SYNOPSIS

Welcome to Talladega, where the men in uniform do deliciously dirty things to the women they love.

Looking for a small town romcom series with hot brothers, plenty of scorching scenes, lots of laughter, and satisfying happily ever afters? You've found it.

Sweet mother of all that is holy.

The Joseph Brothers walk in.

Two firemen and a paramedic walk into a coffee shop.

It’s as if the movie of my life has gone into slow-mo as three fine-as-hell walls of navy-uniformed muscled goodness walk in, joking and laughing with each other. There’s Aaron the paramedic, the blond baby of the bunch. Then Will Joseph, the oldest and the darkest and the beefiest, who always looks like he’s disappointed with the world and gives off this Very Stern vibe.

But then.

Then there’s the middle brother. Price. Melter of panties and primary provider of my alone-time fantasies. His dark blond hair flops deliciously over his forehead and he sports a perfectly-maintained beard that’s thick but still manages to look like it’d be soft if he graced you with a kiss.

I have crushed on this man since I was twelve. Is it healthy? Probably not. Do I place the blame for my persistent virginity at his likely pedicured feet? Damn straight I do.

CHAPTER ONE LOOK INSIDE

FROM THE MECHANIC'S GUIDE TO GETTING THE BOSS'S DAUGHTER:

I flop into a cushioned chair in the most expensive restaurant in Birmingham and level Graham with my sultriest look. It’s that or scream at him about how my credit card just got declined at Gus Meyer, and I’m positive Graham doesn’t care.

I mean, he should. But he doesn’t.

So I give him the Cecilia Strong special: my perfectly red lips parted just so, my perfectly lined eyes arched in the exact way I know Graham likes, and a strand of impeccable blonde hair tucked behind a one karat diamond-studded ear. Then I purr a hello.

I do all this despite him having yet to look up at me.

He holds up a hand, still studying the wine menu. The sommelier hovers like she’ll stand here all night if that’s what it takes, and for a second—just a second—my spine loses its ramrod straightness.

Graham flips the menu closed and holds it out to the sommelier without looking at her. “I’ll have a Glen Levit. Neat.”

The sommelier startles, then gives a quick jerk of her head. “Miss?”

I smile at her, a genuine one, hoping she knows that just because Graham seems to be in tiptop asshole form tonight, I won’t be. Plus, I don’t want them to spit in my wine. “May I have a glass of the Pinot, please?”

She jerks her head again, likely assuming I’m just one of the many pieces of eye candy she’ll see this evening, and pivots away.

I clear my throat.

Graham looks up at me. He’s classically handsome, with unremarkable brown hair, deep-set brown eyes, a strong jaw, straight nose, and a delightful inability to grow facial hair of any consequence. His expression is cold, but it almost always is. Three years of dating him and you’d think I’d have cut through the ice. But he’s worth the effort. All I have to do is hang on while he gets through his oncology residency and I’ll be Mrs. Graham Carpenter. Then the two of us can continue living our separate lives while I profit off his income and he profits off my looks. It’s a match made in society heaven.

“What was that about?” I gesture to the retreating sommelier and make a mental note to set Graham an appointment at the tailor in Homewood for a set of bespoke shirts. The tailor has made clothes for everyone from Hollywood stars to college football coaches, which is far more appropriate for a successful surgeon than off the rack from Macys.

He rolls his eyes and sighs. “I was going to get a bottle, but we won’t be here long enough to finish it.”

I lean across the table, careful to show him just enough top boob, and reach for his hand. “Bad day at the hospital?”

A server approaches with our drinks, and Graham pulls his hand away from mine.

“Would you like any—?”

“That’s enough,” he says, waving the server away.

I turn an apologetic smile to the server, but he’s already gone. I narrow my eyes at Graham. “You do realize they’re going to do something to our food, right?”

He shrugs. “We aren’t staying.”

I sit back in my seat. It’s perfect, this seat. Just enough lumbar support to ensure I remain upright, tits saluting the air.

Don’t judge. A girl does what’s needed.

And what’s needed now is a big sip of wine. I lift the glass to my lips and take a gulp, letting it swish around my mouth. It’s tasty. I’ve learned plenty about wine in my years of getting men to buy it for me.

“We’re breaking up.”
